My husband and I were in the process of buying a house and decided to get a home inspection at the suggestion of our realtor. Considering that the house was only built six years ago we really weren’t anticipating any problems. However, we didn’t take into consideration that when the house was built there were no building codes in that particular township.
During the inspection David Glick of The Home Inspector Inc. noticed several defects with the property that my husband and I did not notice, especially since we are first time buyers. Most of the defects were easily fixed, except for one, the flue pipe for the gas water heater. The exhaust pipe, which can get quite hot, was right up against the floor joist despite the fact that the installation instructions clearly state that this particular pipe should be at least six inches from any combustible material! The wood was even discolored due to the excessive heat against it. Needless to say this could have led to a fire.
To make a long story short, this particular problem led to many phone calls and David visiting the property several times. David Glick took the time to answer all of my questions, of which there were many, and even worked with the gas company to determine a solution to the problem. His quick response, help and professionalism were much appreciated during this stressful period.
I would recommend that anyone buying a home seek the opinion of David Glick prior to purchase. He made sure that our home was safe and quite possibly prevented a house fire! This is not our final home and when my husband and I look to purchase a bigger house we will definitely be calling David prior to purchase! David Glick went above and beyond what was necessary to complete the home inspection for us and I know that he would do this for any of his clients.
